Wire Saws

Wire saws are surgical instruments utilized by neurosurgeons for cutting skull bones during craniotomy in order to provide access to the meninges and the brain tissue, thereby preparing an adequate operating field for the upcoming neurosurgical procedure. Surtex Instruments offers the Gigli Wire Saw, which features two interlaced wires provided with saw teeth and two ringed distal ends.

Also, Gigli Wire Saw Handles are at the customer’s disposal; they consist in T-shaped solid handles provided with a narrow hook at the end, specifically designed to engage with the wire saw rings. The surgeon inserts the Gigli Wire Saw into a hole previously done on the selected cranial bone, and pulls it out by another. This area is carefully selected to avoid damaging critical structures such as venous sinuses. Afterwards the surgeon grabs both Gigli Wire Saw Handles and performs side-to-side pulling movements, which results in the successful removal of a cranial bone flap. At Surtex Instruments  we manufacture premium crafted quality wire saws using the finest surgical grade stainless steel.
