Pituitary Instruments

Pituitary Instruments Pituitary instruments are surgical devices utilized by the neurosurgeon to open up and expose the surgical field during transsphenoidal hypophyctomy. Surtex Instruments manufactures the highest quality pituitary instruments available, such as the Cushing-Landolt Specula, which features a convex handle, two opposing blades which when brought together form a tubular hollow shape, and a manually operated screw mechanism designed to fine tune the blade’s angle of retraction.

The surgeon inserts the device into a blunt submucosa dissection previously made on the nasal septum, and its handle adapts to the anatomical shape of the face, providing a static exposure of the operating field which allows the surgeon to comfortably dissect the pituitary masses. This instrument is available in three different sizes in order to fit the patient’s requirements. Also available are mirrors and bayonet-shaped mirror handles which are used to obtain an optimal view of the operating site. At Surtex Instruments we understand the challenges of performing transsphenoidal hypophyctomy; therefore we craft our premium quality pituitary instruments using the finest surgical grade stainless steel.
