Laryngeal forceps are instruments meant to take biopsies and remove foreign bodies from the supra-glottis or the pyriform fossa without a direct laryngoscope. This can be done with the patient in the sitting position under local anesthesia.
Surtex Instruments manufacture a comprehensive range of laryngeal and microlaryngeal grasping and punch forceps for various indications. The standard forceps consist of ring handles, a long shaft and punching tips from a variety of types. These include the Chevalier-Jackson forceps, which are named after Chevalier Jackson, a pioneer in bronchoesophagoscopy. Surtex Instruments manufacture the Chevalier-Jackson Square Punch Forceps, the Grasping Forceps, the Cup Shaped Biopsy Forceps with a straight or a curved shaft, the Basket Punch Forceps and the Oval Biopsy Forceps. Surtex Instruments also manufacture a variety of straight micro-laryngeal scissors as well as micro-laryngeal grasping and punch forceps.
