Fixation Rings

Fixation Rings

Fixation Rings The fixation rings are small surgical instruments utilized during eye surgical procedures, specifically corneal grafts.  Fixation rings have the essential function of working as a scleral support. Prior to acorneal draft execution, the surgeon sutures the ring to the sclera with at least four scleral sutures in the sclera portion anterior to the rectus muscle insertion, which helps to prevent the collapse of the eye ball and thus prolapse of the ocular contents or distort the corneal rim, also allowing at the same time an optimal view of the operable site.
